Bloggers Unite: Make the World a Better Place

May 12th, 2008 by Alvin Ramirez

Bloggers Unite

Bloggers Unite, the initiative “designed to harness the power of the blogosphere to make the world a better place,” now invites bloggers all over the world to Unite for Human Rights. Sponsored by Amnesty International, BlogCatalog, and Copywrite, Inc., the movement engenders bloggers to write and post about a human rights issue on the 15th of May.

Participating bloggers are asked to insert a badge in their blogs to help spread the word. Ten badge designs are currently available to choose from. Badges designed and submitted by participants can be accessed in a special library at unite@blogcatalog.com.

Topics for posts range from unjust imprisonment of journalists, governments that ignore the plight of citizens, and censorship of the Internet. Specific issues identified by Amnesty International include the imprisonment of journalist Shi Tao in China, the human rights abuses in Darfur, and Illegal detentions in Guantanamo Bay.

Glad to see you’re supporting this. We plan on promoting this to our audience as well, in hopes of having the entire blogosphere join-in on this cause.
